The Albany Institute of History and Art was founded in 1791 and has been collecting and exhibiting artifacts relating to the history of the Upper Hudson Valley region ever since. The permanent collection at the museum and library archive features pieces dating from the late 17th century to the present, including more than 20,000 artifacts and 85,000 historic photos. The museum is located west of the city, near Washington Park.
Open Wed. - Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sun. noon - 5:00 p.m. Library open Thurs. 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and by appointment.
Adults $8; Seniors and Students $6; Children (6-12) $4; Children 5 and under are free.
