The New York State Museum explores the fascinating natural and cultural history of one of the oldest states in the Union. The permanent collection at the museum features exhibits on Harlem in the 1920s, the wildlife of the Adirondacks, a carousel built in 1916, and Native American crafts. Dedicated to performing its own research on aspects of the state's history, the museum also has a display area that covers its own current projects. The museum is located in Albany's Cultural Education Center in the Empire State Plaza.
